Connie Livingston-Dunn tends to call up the known and encase it in the material of the dream state in her works. These, as they refer to the realm in which the real meets the surreal, have a bit more materialization in the quality of the surface than much of her other work. It is interesting to note that for her, the observation of the stretching of reality manifests in the use of more texture and depth of color in the surface of the pieces. This is where the artist finds the answers to her questions. She builds up the density of the surface to provide balance to the mesmerizing quality of the dream state.
