...The digital photography experience has re-kindled my creative fires, and made possible a range of vision which, for me at least, was impossible to achieve in the chemical darkroom. Additional to broadening my range, working digital has given me more contol over my photography than ever. The cost of admission to the digital world, you ask? Only the time and work it takes to become intuitively fluent with Photoshop and allied software. The key: intuitively fluent - the ability to make correct decisions without step-by-step thought. Ironically, thinking your best without thinking...Mirroring digitally, like any other special effect I've ever used, only succeeds when it enlarges, enhances, or makes more striking and alluring the image to which it is applied. Whether darkroom or digital, a special effect for the sake of a special effect rarely leads to powerful imagery.
