This hand sculpted piece was inspired by an old lithograph that used to hang in my Great Aunt Laura's house in southern New Jersey. The lithograph was entitled "Pharaoh's Horses," and it looks similar to the three fiery steeds you see here, except that I have taken the liberty of making them unicorns.
Ironically, the same lithograph has come into my own hands through happenstance and it now hangs in my home at the top of the hallway stairs just as my Aunt Laura's copy used to hang.
This piece is available for purchase although its appearance has changed somewhat since this photo was taken. It has been oxidezed to bring out the fine detail of the work, impossible to see when it's newly made, and it now hangs on a strand of gorgeous onyx chunks, courtesy of bead craftersperson Liz Stewart of Lush Beads, Lowell. |
